I am a medical assistant here at Chapin Pediatrics. I serve all the children in our practice with all of these providers, primarily with Dr. Shealy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ronnie Wilson:<\/strong><\/p>\n

And tell us: what are the things that you encounter on a weekly basis that give you the most joy?<\/span><\/p>\n

Samantha Adams:<\/strong><\/p>\n

I would say probably the younger kids and some of the special needs ones. A lot of the special needs kids honestly have a lot of needs; but they bring a lot of joy with them to this practice and it shows through everybody here.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ronnie Wilson:<\/strong><\/p>\n

And tell us some of the most significant challenges that you might encounter in the course of a week or month even.<\/span><\/p>\n

Samantha Adams:<\/strong><\/p>\n

I think the biggest challenge for me, when I started here, was doing shots in the younger kids. I primarily worked with adults before this, so it was an adjustment for me. You know, nobody wants to give little ones shots – but it’s a necessary part of the job.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ronnie Wilson:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Where had you worked with adults?<\/span><\/p>\n

Samantha Adams:<\/strong><\/p>\n

I have worked in Memorial Health in Savannah and I also worked at University Specialty Clinics with Palmetto Health.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ronnie Wilson:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Now working with children here at Chapin Pediatrics, obviously there are some similarities to what you’ve done; but there are also some unique facets. What are some of the unique facets that you especially like that you didn’t see, necessarily, so commonly with adults?<\/span><\/p>\n

Samantha Adams:<\/strong><\/p>\n

So, a lot of the adults that I worked with in primary care and specialty offices were chronically ill patients or elderly with lots of meds – and lots of needs. And that might be why I relate to the special needs children a little bit as well; but most of the kids here are pretty healthy and it’s not … I’m not used to seeing that very often so it’s great to see healthy kids instead of sick people all the time.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image source=”featured_image” img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
