Introducing Shauna Dominick, LPN<\/strong><\/h3>\n

We’d like to introduce you all to our newest staff member … please give a nice warm welcome to SHAUNA DOMINICK, LPN. We are delighted to have her on board at Chapin Pediatrics and she adds so much to our wonderful nursing staff.<\/span><\/p>\n

Question<\/b>: When did you start\/begin your career?<\/span><\/p>\n

Answer<\/b>: I have been a nurse since January 6, 2004.\u00a0 I have been in pediatrics since that time and worked in general pediatrics for 4 years before going to pediatric pulmonology for 12 1\/2 years.\u00a0 Then I came here with this amazing practice.\u00a0 My passion would be kiddos and adults living with cystic fibrosis.\u00a0 What they do to live everyday is nothing short of amazing: their strength and drive to live with a disease that isn’t curable at this time.\u00a0 Also, to see all the studies going on to try and find a cure is awesome!!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Question<\/b>: How early did you sense you wanted to pursue this career – and what compelled you toward\/into it?<\/span><\/p>\n

Answer<\/b>: I wanted to become a nurse when my dad was diagnosed with brain cancer when I was 9 years old.\u00a0 I was taught how to take care of my dad at that time.\u00a0 I was flushing and administering meds thru his port, going to chemo and radiation treatments with him. Also, I found myself changing and cleaning his wounds from his multiple brain surgeries. He passed away a few months after I turned 11.\u00a0 He is the reason why I wanted to become a nurse and feel like I was helping people.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Question<\/b>: Academic pursuits or accomplishments worthy of mention [including school(s) attended]?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Answer<\/b>: I have an associates degree in business management with emphasis on office management.\u00a0 I worked as an assistant office manager at a construction company for 3 years before going back to school and getting my nursing license.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Question<\/b>: Hobbies? Enjoyable downtime doings?<\/span><\/p>\n

Answer<\/b>: I absolutely love to read.\u00a0 I read all genres of books.\u00a0 If I have any downtime you will see me reading.\u00a0 I have the nook and kindle app on my phone.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Question<\/b>: The best piece of advice I ever recall receiving was\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

Answer<\/b>: The best advice I would say that I received is to always treat people the way you want to be treated.\u00a0 You never know what someone else is going through, their struggles, or their story.\u00a0 Also, always show up, do your best, and work hard.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Question<\/b>: One of the most inspirational people I\u2019ve ever known is _______ – and the reason he\/she inspired me so is \u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

Answer<\/b>: The person who has touched my life the most would be my grandmother.\u00a0 She was my best friend.\u00a0 I could always go to her and talk to her about anything in this world no matter what.\u00a0 She never judged me or anyone.\u00a0 She was the most caring person anyone had the pleasure of meeting.\u00a0 She always used to tell us, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.”\u00a0 Also, “keep your opinions about others to yourself, that’s how drama starts.”<\/em><\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
