Ronnie Wilson:
For how long have you guys been coming to see Luke and his staff?
Scott Dinkins:
Since our first was born, so ten years.
Ronnie Wilson:
And what propelled your choice?
Scott Dinkins:
We had some friends that knew Luke and we were new to Columbia. Anytime, especially like that, you’re looking for some advice. You don’t know anything as a new parent. You’re trying to figure out how to navigate the world of parenting. So we had some friends that were close to Luke and used Luke. I mean Chapin Pediatrics wasn’t that old then. But it was an opportunity for us to learn and grow into this parenting thing with some familiar faces. It was referral more than advertising or marketing or anything like that.
Ronnie Wilson:
And did you guys come all the way from prenatal care for your first one?
Scott Dinkins:
You know I don’t remember how much prenatal care was involved. I mean we’ve had five children but that’s just a dads perspective. I’m sure there’s more than I know of, but he was at the hospital when our first was born and each one after that. But I’m sure there was some prenatal stuff that I’m just oblivious to because I’m a husband and a father rather than the mother.
Ronnie Wilson:
What are the things you have enjoyed most about Dr. Bonnett, Luke as we know him, and the folks in his practice?
Scott Dinkins:
Sure, I think the professionalism with a laid-back atmosphere. I remember growing up being a part of a pediatric environment that was a little bit more stiff than what we’ve experienced here. And so in that regard, there’s every bit of professional care and everything desired from a parental perspective along with the inclusion of encouragement and a laid-back approach. It is a breath of fresh air. Because parents, at the end of the day, we don’t know what we’re doing anyways and so to have a pediatrician that encourages rather than always makes you feel like you missing the mark is really helpful. That’s probably the most refreshing aspect of it. And then of course, his staff is great; from the attendants that you meet when you walk in the door to the other doctors, along with Dr. Bonnett, they’re all very careful and attentive and you don’t feel like you’re being hustled out to meet the next appointment.
